Meet The Team
Dr. Lachlan Munn
BSc(Hons), BOhDSc, MDSc, PgDip Implantology
Dr. Lachlan Munn is a fellow Coolum Beach Local, having lived in Marcoola, Mt Coolum and Point Arkwright. For the last few years he has been looking after the community of Caloundra.
Lachlan is known for his commitment to personalised care integrating dental health and well being and he brings a range of dental treatment and knowledge to Sunshine Smiles Dental Coolum Beach. He is skilled in a variety of advanced procedures, including Invisalign (clear aligners), dental implants, smile makeovers (bonded and porcelain veneers) and full mouth rehabilitations, oral surgery and minimally invasive cosmetic dentistry.
Lachlan is continuously expanding his expertise through ongoing education and staying at the forefront of the latest advancements in dentistry, to ensure his patients receive the best quality care in order to achieve each patient’s unique needs and personalised goals. Lachlan is dedicated to crafting tailored treatment plans addressing dental concerns and also supporting broader health objectives.
Lachlan prioritises his patient’s comfort and satisfaction, ensuring a stress-free experience by providing a calm and supportive environment throughout the dental journey. He is aware dental procedures can cause anxiety for some people and Lachlan is able to provide various sedation options for mild anxiety and IV sedation for extreme situations, ensuring patients are able to achieve their oral health goals despite being apprehensive.
Dr. Vinny Ankaran
BDS, LDS RCS (Eng.) MSc (Clin. Rest.) (UK)
Dr. Vinny Ankaran graduated in 1994 from Birmingham University in England, obtaining his licence in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in the same year.
He has completed extensive postgraduate training and successfully completed a 5-year Masters degree in Clinical Restorative Cosmetic Dentistry in 2010.
In 2009, Dr Ankaran was shortlisted in the inter-disciplinary category for one of the UK’s top cosmetic awards, the UK SMILE Awards (now called the Aesthetic Dentistry Awards). These awards recognise clinical excellence in restorative and cosmetic dentistry, and Vinny was only one of 15 dentists/specialists in the UK to be recognised in this category.
He has lectured at the Academy of Clinical Excellence in Wakefield, UK, and the International Centre of Excellence in Dentistry in Birmingham, UK.
Throughout his career, Vinny has owned two dental practices and worked in several multidisciplinary specialist practices, providing Endodontic and Cosmetic Dental treatments.
Vinny is committed to providing the highest quality of care to each of his patients and does so in a warm, down-to-earth, and approachable manner. He has a special interest in root canal treatments and cosmetic cases and enthusiastically approaches every case, wishing for perfection.
He moved to Australia in 2011 and calls the Sunshine Coast home. When he’s not hard at work, you’ll find Vinny at the local gym or engrossed in the latest film or good book.
Katie is passionate about educating her patients and helping them to achieve their optimum oral health.
Katie always receives positive reviews from her patients for being exceptionally gentle and attentive to their needs, which has resulted in an impressive fan base in the local area.
If you’re nervous about seeing a hygienist or you’ve had a bad experience with one in the past, Katie will change the way you view your hygiene visits forever, ensuring a positive and painless experience every time.
In her free time, Katie enjoys going to the beach with her family, gardening, hiking and cooking.

We're honest and upfront about our fees, with no hidden extras. Our fees are fair and in line with those of other practices in the area. We offer interest-free payment plans to help spread the cost of your dental treatment.
Free children's dental treatment is available under the CDBS Children's Dental Benefits Schedule, and we welcome DVA and QLD Health vouchers.
We accept all major health funds and are preferred providers for HCF, Westfund and NIB
